Waffling in Rudkøbing

Blog

My love of liquorice ice cream is well known and every harbour is an opportunity to seek out the local purveyors.

But here in Rudkøbing was an additional treat – the ice cream waffle maker demonstrating his art.

The waffle mix is poured onto one of six grills which then sets off in a circuit while it cooks.

Meanwhile, the returning grill has a perfectly cooked waffle ready to be formed around a cone shaped tool. The most cooked part of the waffle is selected for the tip which is carefully folded to keep the drips inside.

The wafflemaster said that the learning process is tricky, but now, he’s watching an episode of a box set on his phone.

Then the waffle cone is left to cool in a stack ready for my two scoops of Lakrits Ice-cream. *Other flavours are available.
