Van Gogh

While in Kalmar, waiting for the next frontal system to pass through, we took a walk over to Kalmar Slott, a very impressive royal castle, beautifully restored. We visited it last year, and it’s worth a second trip.

The special event was a ‘Son et Lumière’ exhibition of Van Gogh’s life and work. We sat in the gallery for an hour, entranced by huge displays on the walls, ever-changing to a sound track of lovely opera and classical music.

Some of the canvasses moved, stars whirling, birds swooping, it was really mesmerizing, and very unexpected!

Outside, the weather was uninviting, so it was a lovely way to spend an afternoon.

  1. Lucky you! We met van Gogh in a park in Holland years ago – that was quite unexpected and delightful too – so we fully understand your reaction.

  2. It looks absolutely wonderful. I enjoyed our visit last year, but it looks
    even better this year.
