Last year, our favourite island Ekholmen was just outside Stockholm and owned by the Vikingarnas Sailing Club. So we had to go back.
On a perfect, warm day, with light airs, we wriggled our way through rocks and islands and picked up a visitor’s buoy on the pontoon at the club island. There is a super view from a little hill where the clubhouse sits, and the members on duty served ice cream and coffee.
It was the weekend, and it was so nice to watch a group of four teenage boys arriving out on a little pink boat to mess about, swimming and camping on board.
Later, as the sun set, we took our barbecue food over to the rocks and joined members there cooking on the club grill.
And of course at 9pm, the klaxon sounded for all ensigns to be rolled up. There are standards to be maintained!
If we come back, we are going to have to become members.
A truly magical experience that we feel so lucky to have been a part of. Thank you!
Ahhh looks idyllic at sunset, and pretty nice earlier. Can we come as guests next time?
I think you’ll have to!
