We have only revisited four places this year, but fifth on the list had to be Nåttarö.
It has a reputation for being a fantastic bay, great for swimming, with sandy beaches, and barbecue pits, and plenty of room for everyone.
However, loyal followers may recall that last year we tried to have a barbecue here, but were ticked off in no uncertain terms, and hastily put it out. Not following Swedish news, or able to read public notices, we didn’t know there was a fire ban, or that it extended to proper barbecue pits on sandy beaches.
The bay was also absolutely full of thick green algae, possibly poisonous, and so we didn’t fancy a swim.
But this year, there is no fire ban, no algae, the sun was shining, and the water temperature was 21C. Perfect!
There were also over 120 boats in the harbour – like I said, plenty of room for everyone!
So we walked on a mission across the island to where we knew there was a ferry harbour and a hut selling ice cream.
And on our return, we finally had that barbecue on the beach.
Well I must say you all look pretty nicely chilled in your Nattaro setting, with no scolding about not following the rules… can almost smell the aromas from the BBQ, wish we were with you! Nick
Sounds just perfect!
