On a wet Wednesday in October, we flew to Berlin from Dublin, and took the train to Greifswald where the Hanse Dehler factory is based. Greifswald is a delightful university town with cobbled streets, cafes, students on bikes, old barges on the river, and a huge factory making boats!
Once we signed a non-disclosure agreement, our host Henry took us off on a tour of the factory. Fascinating! But we can’t tell you anything about it, LOL!!
We were able to spend an hour with the on-site chandler / rigger / sailmaker, and discuss what we need when the boat is commissioned in April, and we arranged to stay in a cute apartment beside the marina for a few days prior to launch, and booked a berth for a few days afterwards.
Now, all we have to do is wait ……..
