We left the boat swinging on a mooring overlooked by the Royal Swedish Sailing Club Grand Hotel in Saltsjöbaden, south of Stockholm.
We flew home for a gathering of the Scott family clan, a postponed Irish wedding in Enniskillen for William’s cousin Richard and his wife Choyeon. Sadly, our flights were cancelled at the last minute, so we missed out on a few days in Portugal with Liliana, Rachel and Patrick.
But once back in Fahan, we lucked out with the weather, and had a glorious day sailing Tempo across to Macamish for a picnic, including a swim, then off to Rathmullan for a pint of Guinness and a bag of chips, while we waited for the tide to rise so we could return to the marina. A really classic Lough Swilly day.
After a lovely week with family, and meeting so many people we hadn’t seen in two Covid years, we flew back to Stockholm for some cruise time with Brendan, who has sailed with us for many years, but not in the Archipelago.
So far, the islands have lived up to expectations, with light sailing breezes, pretty anchorages, and warm water to cool off in the afternoon. We have even bought ice cream from a passing boat shop.
We’re with you in spirit after sharing such great family time together ‘in the auld country’!
It was so grand to see a full “McAusland” turnout at Richard and Choyeon’s event, with all the accompanying relatives; what a loyal crowd all the cousins composed and it was great that the Fermanagh sunshine held on until Friday’s main event was over. Weatherwise, Saturday and Sunday were a bit different, unfortunately, but everyone seemed to enjoy our gathering here for drinks on Saturday evening. Katherine and William plus families have remained and the last revellers depart today, heading for the annual Ballycastle tennis tournament next week. So sorry to hear that cancelled flights limited your travels recently. Lovely pics aboard Tempo on Lough Swilly show that it can be sunny in Ireland and that, when it is, one wonders if there is any prettier place on earth! So this is to wish you continuing Bon Voyage and we look forward to hearing more news of your adventures aboard and ashore. Much love from Shirley and Richard
