Don’t rock the boat

Blog

Finally we had weather to allow us to sail on towards home base.

Our friend Mary was to join us for a week, and we had to find a new place to pick her up since we were way off our route by now.

It was tricky enough, there had to be a good train connection from Copenhagen near an accessible harbour.

Luckily with the water level high, we were able to navigate carefully into Vordingborg, where we found a deep enough berth at the outer end of the friendly yacht club marina.

Mary arrived, late from the usual flight delays, and we all settled down to a peaceful night….

The wind direction changed to precisely the angle that sends little crashing waves under the boat, conveniently under Mary’s cabin. None of us slept a wink.

In the morning, we complained bitterly of the miserable night of incessant banging and rocking motion.

´Oh’ said Mary, ´I just assumed it was supposed be like this on a boat, and hoped I’d get used to it’.

Happier crew after a good night’s sleep!

  1. Looks like a pleasant anchorage, so I hope you’ve manage to catch up on your sleep. Our Danish pair are with us at present, but the weather is poorish and rather typical of an Irish summer. Love and gentle zephyrs to all aboard Melodrama,
