(With apologies to Creationists)
Here we are nestled in a very sheltered harbour at Rødvig, because out there, it’s honking. Yesterday was no better, so we have been ticking off a few maintenance tasks and stocking up the fridge.
The local Co-op Super Brugsen was a short walk along the coast where we looked out beyond the white cliffs over the swell and waves and were glad of our decision.
Then we saw a UNESCO sign that explained that we were looking out at Stevns Klint, the most important geological site on the planet with evidence of the mass extinction of the dinosaurs and 75% of species 66 million years ago when an asteroid crashed into the earth in what is now Mexico.
Look carefully at the cliffs, and you can see Fiskeler, a grey layer above sea level. This contains a mix of dark iridium from the meteorite dust, and limestone from the doomed creatures. Apparently, Iridium is very rare on earth, but abundant in meteorites.
Today it is chucking it down with rain, so we are huddled below decks, planning our next few passages, and looking forward to some warm sunny days with fine sailing breezes to come.
Sorry about your weather!!!
We are basking in glorious sunshine and at present in cafe at Sainsburys in Leven. Well we do have to eat!!
Going back to sunny garden now
Xxxx
Now the fog has lifted you can get back to enjoying yourselves.
Great with your radar superimpose on electronic charts. Stopping the engine and listening was much more exciting.
