The end of August marks the end of the summer, and the traditional pursuit race to Portsalon, one of the highlights of the year. This was to be our last event in Drama Queen, and we were lucky to have the old crew on board – Nev, Diane and Gary along with new crew Deb over from Windsor for our final race.
It was a classic, with nearly all the fleet crossing the finish line together and some close tussles for the prize places. We finished 4th, by a few seconds, but we had a fantastic spinnaker leg up the lough to Swillymore, and a close beat back to Portsalon, so it was a great day out. The sun even shone, and we paddled on the beach, before sharing the traditional bag of chips on board on the sail home. A truly Swilly Day Out.
