Rødvig Day 5 …. nearly

Blog Denmark 2019

Sure enough, the fog was back in the morning. But all our neighbours have work to go to on Monday, so were heading off anyway. ‘Next door’ said it was sunny up North in Copenhagen. We decided to join the convoy, and if the fog didn’t clear before Spaghetti Junction, we would just carry on north to Dragør, a marina just south of Copenhagen, so we would stay clear of the big ships.

It was a good chance to try our Radar – which is brilliant. It picks up the presence of buoys, boats, coastline and even flocks of birds, as we discovered!

But the really fantastic feature is that it can be superimposed on the chart, which makes it all really easy to interpret.

There is a really good weather app called Windy, that gives visuals of the four common forecast models (so you can pick the one you like best?)

It also gives a visibility forecast, and it seems to be fairly accurate – sure enough the fog cleared, and we dashed across to Skanör in Sweden dodging only a couple of tankers.

There we put on our shorts and ate ice-cream in the evening sun. Another good day.

  1. Whew! And now for the next challenges! Well done you high tech sailors and very glad you missed the tankers – or they missed you! Now enjoy the Swedish waters, coast and islands – and let us know if Swedish ice cream is any better than Danish…
