I know, I know, but I couldn’t imagine having a boat without a spinnaker! So we’ve ordered one from Saturn Sails.
Yet again, following the tradition of the last four sails for Drama Queen, it’s my birthday present 🙂
We’ve also had to spec a pole and all the fittings, so this is the most expensive birthday present ever, by some way.
Thank you William xoxo
and yes, I’ve already registered this sail number too.
So teal is the new pink then???
Interestingly all the polar charts are for an asymmetric spinnaker, you going against the norm?
Not really. The standard sail spec includes an A2 asymmetric. It’s cheaper as they then don’t have to supply spinnaker rig, pole, track etc. We were allowed to swap out the A2 for a Code 0 which is on a furler, so easier for us to handle. (A bit more expensive). But neither the Code 0 not the A2 go beyond a broad reach, so a spinnaker fills the gap. Also in Lough Swilly we get a lot of downwind legs, so the A2 wouldn’t suit so well. And finally, I love spinnakers!!
I’ve now found polar diagrams for the spinnaker, from the prototype boat – enjoy
