We’ve had a great cruise from Nynashamn to Kalmar over the last two weeks with regular crew member Brendan, wriggling round tight rocks, and a nice mix of anchorages and lively harbours.
The Swedes just love their classic cars, and we often come across large rallies in town harbours. Once we saw a DeLorean, still attracting crowds. But this time, the star of the show was a tiny BMW that opened from the front, thus needing a complex arrangement for the steering wheel.
One night we stayed at the friendly yacht club harbour on the small island of Snedskär , tucked away in the reeds and rocks.
We took a walk to the mainland which required crossing the water from the island. Thankfully a self-service ferry is provided!
And onwards towards Kalmar, via the holiday town of Bornholm.
Several million Swedish midges decided to join the boat, attracted by the blue canvas, and undeterred by the electric tennis bat that was in constant use to exterminate all those that ventured below decks.
Still, there was a consolation prize of just about the most fabulous ice cream, sold in huge scoops and utterly delicious.
Mt father had the 3 wheeled version (or it may have been an Isetta) before “upgrading” to the 4 wheeler, It was the only car my mother could ever park, just drive straight at the curb 🙂 No reverse tho, so had to push it out of the space again.
