It all seems a long time ago now, but it shouldn’t go unblogged that we had a couple of great weeks just chilling with good friends.
Mary and Ian, our regular crew, came during a heatwave, and we spent most of the time in light breezes and pretty anchorages, swimming with fish nibbling, and enjoying fabulous sunsets.
But just as Mary and Ian left us in Nynäshamn south of Stockholm, and Sarah and Lou arrived, the weather broke. We spent the next week dodging wet and stormy weather. The solution was to head inland, on a circuit back through Stockholm and Lake Malaren and return to Nynäshamn.
We spent a rainy day in Artipelag, a super modern art museum on the shore of a long fjord to the East of Stockholm.
We manœuvred through locks and bridges in the lake, and spent a day as tourists in the pretty town of Trosa
In the end we had one last day when the winds dropped and we found an anchorage after wriggling through rocks, with time for a swim and a peaceful night swinging, with nothing but birdlife around. Perfect.
The Baltic just seems to have everything for you, but crammed into a shortish season. Splendid photos … but what are smors – is it a contraction of “yes please I’d like s’more of those”?
