Down the Rocky Road to Nynashamn

Archipelago Blog

It’s crew changeover day today, and we are in Nynashamn. It’s also Midsummer Day, and Sweden’s biggest festival. The whole place closes down, and the Swedes party, before going on a long holiday.

Brendan has left and Breidge is arriving later. It is also raining, and we are hiding below decks.

We had a wonderful few days travelling from Arkosund to Nykoping and on to Nynashamn, weaving our way along the coast, round rocks and islands, spotting the red and green navigation marks, and watching our depth carefully!

Despite a big storm that kept us in Nykoping for a day, we found that behind the islands it is incredibly sheltered, and so beautiful.

So today, William is reading technical manuals, and I’m trying to splice a rope, using some cool tools that Gary sent out. So far, they don’t look like the instructional video.
