We have just accepted a very good offer on Melodrama from a really delightful young Danish couple who came to look at the boat yesterday. They seemed to love the boat and it was a good fit for what they were looking for.
Unbelievably, they contacted us through the Dehler Owners group on FaceBook!
We were a bit shell shocked by such an early offer and it ended all ‘Plan B’ discussions about holding onto the boat if we didn’t get a good price.
We are delighted to pass our boat on to sailors who will adore it too.
Of course the offer is subject to survey which will be arranged for a date in July at the end of our farewell cruise.
Meanwhile not everything is going to plan. Yesterday, we could not find our sails anywhere, and this morning there was much scratching of heads from the boatyard staff who could not imagine where they might be hiding. They do take up a lot of space, they aren’t exactly invisible.
Then we twigged . Every year, all the Elvstrøm sails are taken for servicing to the factory about 50km away. Marion in the boatyard office found me the number and we rang them. And after a rummage they found them! So Brendan and I drove over and brought them back. Phew!
William stayed behind to work with the guys to fit the mast…
On our return the mast was dangling at a strange angle held by the hoist on the crane. The crane has stopped working.
Several hrs later, the mast has been lowered to safety, but it will be at least tomorrow before the crane is repaired.
But it is a most fabulous day, and an evening barbecue beckons.
Bitter sweet indeed! Now you can focus on having a lovely cruise.
Sad but the start of a new chapter maybe?
Would have been nice to be there for one last time but was not to be 🙁
