We had a great sail up to Allinge on the NE Coast of Bornholm, having altered course (again!) at the request of NATO Warship A090 exercising in the area. We could not see what they were doing, but we think it involved a man fishing from a dinghy.
Meet the harbour master:
Fill in the form, pay and a ticket is printed with the code to the showers and the WiFi. Clever.
Now meet Michael and Peter, a Swede and a Dane from yacht Molly Malone beside us. “Would you like to have some Sundowners this evening?” they asked very sociably. “What time shall we come over?” we replied. “Oh, we thought we’d come to your nice new boat” was the reply – and suddenly we were hosting the sundowners, and the gin bottle was much lighter. A very pleasant evening.
In the morning, we weren’t up quite so early – I wonder why? Molly Malone was long gone, and when we surfaced, an entire local market had set up around us, and we hadn’t heard a thing.
Finally, the bikes came out!! Yes, you sceptics, they are on board, along with the dinghy and the inflatable canoe, and it all fits – there may be a slight tilt to port, but hey!
Mum and I called at Bornholm but I have forgotten exactly where. Remember it was raining and we climbed to a Church (?) for a view of our ship in the bay. Your biking experience looks much sunnier and flatter! And so many flowers. What a magical time of year to discover the Baltic. Rx
Very impressive bike! A great way to explore a little beyond the shore.
